Clitical made it into print! So, it's only a small blurb on
page 100 in the chapter on Masturbation, but we're still in
there!
Okay,
now that the excitement is out of the way, let me tell you
about the book.
Anne
Semans and Cathy Winks have written the second addition (the
first was published in 1994) of The New Good Vibrations Guide
to Sex. If you didn't buy the first edition, do yourself a
favor and check out this new one. The New Good Vibrations
Guide to Sex has been hailed as "the best sex manual
ever" and is often recommended by medical professionals.
Why
is this book necessary? It is our experience that people
from a wide range of backgrounds share certain traits: They
crave accurate, practical, nonjudgmental information about
sex, and they relish the opportunity to speak frankly about
sexual activities.
There
are so many things to think about when talking about sex,
how did they ever decide where to start? Why, from the beginning,
of course. If you want to learn the lay of the land, thus,
they start this book by teaching you what is where and they
tell you in layman's terms what each part does. This is also
not a book that limits its information to heterosexual couples.
Not that it concentrates on same sex experiences, but it does
talk about subject in a way that they can be related to any
sexual couple, or anyone who maintains an alternative lifestyle.
This
book goes beyond pointing out communication flaws and toy
descriptions. This book shows us that pleasure should not
be difficult, dangerous, or expensive and it also shows us
how to have a positive sexual experience. With chapters on
such subjects as Masturbation, Creative Touching, Fantasies,
High-Tech Sex, and Where Sex Toys Come From, they cover a
wide spectrum of subjects.
One
of the best parts about this book is the fact that we get
to read about other people's experiences - the good and the
bad. The anecdotes scattered throughout the book confirm that
we are not alone in our quest for excellent sex lives.
When
I buy a book, I like to know its something that I can
refer back to when I have a question. Ive come back
to it several times. I also like to know where I can go to
get more information. Thankfully, Anne and Cathy have done
the research for me and offer plenty of other resources, including
a shopping guide, magazines and ezines, organizations, newsletters,
and websites that deal with sexual issues. There is also a
bibliography, which features a list of additional reading
on male sexuality, masturbation, sex manuals, and much more.
There is also a videography, listing videos with a short blurb
about each video.
Overall,
I think this book is a great investment of not only my money,
but my time.
