"I
enjoy masturbating myself but it makes me feel so guilty and I'm
terrified of being caught. These two things are spoiling things
and sometimes I really wonder if it would just be simpler to stop
masturbating."
******
Though it
is now widely recognized that masturbation is normal, healthy
and very common, a lot of woman still share your feelings. The
guilt probably comes from early memories of being told that
touching yourself 'down there' is dirty and, though you know
its ok to do it, this early conditioning still holds you. The
only advice we can give is to realize that the only difference
between masturbating in private and not masturbating at all
is that if you masturbate then you will have a lot of pleasure.
It does not degrade you, injure you, make you dirty or promiscuous
or have any other negative effects - unless you allow yourself
too feel guilty as this can cause worry and unhappiness. So
relax and enjoy yourself.
As for the
second point about a fear of being caught. If you have this
common fear then just ensure you take whatever precautions are
needed to ensure privacy when you want to masturbate. Tips from
an old pro':
1.
Practice doing it silently, including the climax. No noise means
less to attract attention.
2.
Pick a place where you can lock others out without causing suspicion,
such as the loo or bathroom.
3.
If you can't do 2 then pick a place where you would get advance
warning of someone approaching, such as upstairs alone if you
have creaky stairs or somewhere where a noisy door would give
away someone approaching.
4.
Plan quick cover-up strategies such as wearing a full skirt
with no underwear - if disturbed, simply standing up would cover
all and make things look normal (jeans round your ankles take
some getting up in a hurry!)
5.
If you think you have the house to yourself, check before doing
anything. Feel free to bolt the door as if someone does come
back and find it bolted you can say you feel safer with it bolted
when you are alone.
6.
Unless you have a guaranteed period of solitude, keep it simple
- no fancy clothes, toys, routines, magazines, videos etc as
they are more likely to give you away if a quick tidy is forced
on you by an unexpected knock at the door.
